After the great efforts of Mr Tony
Defabio to grow the sport of Pro Street
Racing in Australia, and his continued
commitment and dedication in
registering and running APSA over the
past 10 years, Tony along with APSA and
its members have come to an agreement
to set up a governing committee to help
build the association and move our
sport further forward.
This committee, with the combined
efforts of credible respected racers
and ambassadors of the sport, will help
unify and grow APSA as well as improve
its processes into an even more
professional association. This way the
decisions, rules and day to day running
of APSA is a combined effort of decision
makers that have extensive knowledge
and dedicated their lives to Pro Street
Racing, rather than all the pressures
and repercussions of changes, falling
on one person or a minority.
The committee will be a diplomatic
responsible governing body and will
consist of 5 or more members with the
vision to grow the sport and to tackle
the constant rule decisions and what
the course of APSA should be for the
future.
We have formed a NSW and QLD based committee
with the intention to add other State
committee members at a
later date. The reason for this is to
eliminate immediate trave headaches
for interstate
members whilst the initial setup and
duties of the committee is formed over
the next couple of
months. In saying that there will be
adding of QLD, VIC and WA involvement in
committee
decisions via an email group and a
person from each state that will be
asked for their input when decisions are made.
We have currently managed to get
together 6 board members. We would like
to announce the
members with a brief background on each
member:
1. Kavey: Kavey has been actively involved in Pro Street and Pro Street racing for most of his life. He has extensive knowledge in car building and runs his own workshop which is mainly dedicated to performance car building . Kavey also is an ANDRA official which makes him great resource and
knowledgeable official for us her at APSA. Kavey is also an great spokesperson in meetings and at shootout events and has years of experience in organising racers and racing. He is an unpolitical ambassador of the sport and wants to see it grow. A great character and joker as well Kavey just wants to se Pro Street racing here in Australia at its best.
2. Simon Kryger: Simon is a well
respected Pro Street racer who is loved
by many in the
sport. He is responsible for breaking
Multiple Australian records in MSB
class, Including the
first 7 second pass in MSB and building
Johnny Wilson's spectacular 7.6ET
Torana, again
smashing the MSB record further. Also
being highly competitive in MS
aspirated class, Simon
has won multiple shootout events in MSB
and been racing Pro Street for many
years.
Simon is the kind of racer that will go
out of his way and do anything to help
anyone in our
sport even if it means they go faster
than him, purely for the reason of,
getting more people
involved and loving Pro Street Racing.
He is renowned to be one of Australia's
best Pro
Street car builders and a crazy man of
the sport. He can be described as the
voice of the
racers, easily approached and I'll say again loved by many.

Australia's Fastest street car. His
achievements in
Pro street are numerous and his famous
7 second LC Torana has been in multiple
magazines and
is known all over the country. Mark's
success was achieved after many years
of experience in
Pro Street Racing. This is shown by his
heavy involvement in Craig's Hewitt's'
super
consistent 7sec Pro Street Commodore,
also Rob Godfrey's "Street Machine of
the year", that
has won multiple races and shows, just
to name a couple. He currently works at
Rocket
Industries and is one of the people
responsible for the racers discount
scheme at Rocket. He
lives and breaths pro street and is
very knowledgeable.
4. Big Leo Vangelovski: Involved in
APSA and Australian Pro Street racing
from day one. Leo is one of the
most experienced racers in the country.
He is very competitive with the famous
MS, Fluro orange
Torana Lx and runs his own workshop "BL
Automotive" out of Wollongong. Leo is
very passionate
about pro street racing and wants
nothing more than to see the sport
grow. Leo is also the
man behind many top running cars at Pro
Street and bracket racing events in
Australia. Very
well known and respected in the
industry.
5.Domenic Luppino:
Another long time racer and active
promoter of Pro Street and Pro
Street racing in Australia. Dom is
well known for his currently number one, Pro Street
Blown, Twin Turbo Mustang. Dom has
supported Pro Street Racing for
years and is one of the first men in
Australia to run a 6 second pass in
his class. Dom is an excellent APSA
spokes man and deals with Calder
Park and other drag racing
organizations to help build Pro
Street racing in Australia. A fair
non bias man with integrity and a
great committee member representing
Victoria.
6. Craig Hewitt: Craig could be
described as currently the most
consistent Pro Street Blown
racer in Australia. Multiple shootout
wins, and bracket runner ups, Craig
knows what has to be
done to be at the top of the game...He
lives and breaths Pro Street racing (as
all our
members do) and has sponsored many Pro
Street events via his business "CBH
Engineering"...
A level headed unbias bloke that wants
nothing but the Sport to grow..
7. Mark Arnold
(Bluey): Is a long time
experienced and respected Pro Street
racer with a wealth of knowledge in
building cars and involved in
helping many other very well known
racers get their cars to tracks
around Australia. Bluey is well
known as a fair reliable and impartial
guy that will make decisions only
for the good of the sport we all
love. Based in QLD he is the second out
of two QLD committee members
representing the very strong QLD
racer base APSA has. A great
decision maker and all round lover
of Pro Street Racing and great guy
to have on board.
The selection Criteria is based on
people that want nothing more than our
sport to grow and
willing to do background hours to
achieve this....these are experienced,
respected, unbiased
members that hopefully can get things
even more organised. I would like to
officially welcome
them to the APSA board.. |
